Why you should Vote?
Voting is an essential aspect of living in a democracy. It’s the right thing to do! Voting gives us the opportunity to make decisions about the quality of life we want for ourselves and for future generations. Voting is our chance to stand up for the issues we care about for our families and communities. By exercising our right to vote, we support candidates and ballot measures that help our communities, state and even the nation for the greater good.
Unfortunately, many Americans choose not to vote. They lose the important opportunity to make their voices heard. By not voting, they don’t use their power to show what matters to them; and in the process, they make themselves invisible to the elected officials who make all of the big decisions.
Not sure if you are registered to vote? You can check your status at vote.org when you provide your state of residence, name, birthday and zip code. If your information does not pop up, take a few minutes to register to vote and if needed, request an absentee ballot. Or, go directly to the Solano County Registrar of Voters and click on “Verify Voter Registration.” You can also visit the Registrar of Voters Office located at 675 Texas Street in Fairfield to register in person. Another option is to visit any Department of Motor Vehicles office, any public library or any post office. You will find voter registration forms readily available. The voter registration deadline is always 15 days before an election.
The date of our next general election is November 3rd. It is important to vote for candidates and ballot measures at the local, county, state and national level. Your power is in your vote. Make your voice heard and exercise your right to be a VOTER.
